Golden Horseshoe Golf Club offers three tournaments in November

November is a great month for golf in Virginia, and Colonial Williamsburg’s Golden Horseshoe invites golfers to enjoy three different tournaments this November. The event schedule features the 17th annual Couples Golf Tournament, the third annual Golden Horseshoe Gobbler and the 2009 Fall Military Invitational. The Golden Horseshoe Golf Club is part of Colonial Williamsburg’s Resort Collection and is located at 401 S. England St.
The following tournaments will be offered at the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club:

  • 17th Annual Couples Golf Tournament. Nov. 2 -3. The tournament is 36 holes of stroke play on both the Gold and Green courses. Entry fee of $480 per couple includes practice rounds, two tournament rounds, golf carts for tournament rounds, tee gifts, prizes, Sunday’s cocktail reception, tournament banquet and closing reception.   • Third Annual Golden Horseshoe Gobbler. Thursday, Nov. 12, begins at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start. Hosted by the Gold course, this year’s tournament introduces a brand new golf tournament format for some extra spice – the four-person “cha-cha-cha” format. Each member of the team plays his or her own ball throughout, but a three-hole rotation exists for determining how many scores are used to create the team score. Handicaps are not necessary for this fun tournament, and anyone can win. Prizes will be awarded for on-course contests throughout the day. Entry fee is $85 and includes green and golf cart fees, unlimited range balls, personalized cart signs, scoreboards and bag tags, lunch and post-tournament snacks and beer.   • 2009 Fall Military Invitational. Nov. 14 – 15. The tournament consists of 36 holes on the Green course. Saturday’s format is four ball (two person, best ball), while Sunday’s is captain’s choice. Handicaps will determine Sunday’s pairings, and flights will be determined by Saturday’s scores. Teams are composed of two amateur golfers as defined by USGA rules of golf. One player must be an active-duty, retired or reserve military or National Guard member. The other player may be either civilian or military. Entry fee is $235 per team and includes tournament rounds and carts, one optional practice round (pay cart fees only) and range balls on tournament days.
